Lake Mogan and Gölbaşı Düzlüğü pondscapes have a high biodiversity value. They are part of the Gölbaşı Special Environmental Protection Area and are declared as an “Important bird breeding, feeding & shelter area”. Around Lake Mogan Pondscape, 102 bird species are observed. From the observed species, white‐headed duck (Oxyura leucocepahala) is the endangered one according to IUCN. Unfortunately for Lake Mogan pondscape, there is no inventory on biodiversity other than water birds. Due to urbanization, expansion, and recreational areas which create close contact with the people might be a major threat to the biodiversity.
